Inspired by the recent Daily WTF article, some colleagues of mine developed an ingenious solution to a server timeout problem.

A connection to a server would time out after 2 minutes of inactivity, to counteract this whilst an application was being installed they attached an optical mouse to a rotating fan to simulate movement. Genius!

It was starting to get a little depressing. I had tried unsuccessfully five times to apply as an iStock photo contributor. You know how it is, friends and family tell you they like your photos; eventually you begin to think that hey, that photo wasn’t bad.
